For anyone who’s interested, it’s Mam as in jam not Marm as in Arm, bow from the head not from the waist, girls curtsy.
Not something many of us here at The Food Village expected to ever have to know. But on Tuesday the 31st of July we had the great excitement of a visit from Princess Alexandra, The Honourable Lady Ogilvy. For anyone who’s not heard of her, Princess Alexandra is the cousin of Queen Elizabeth II and descended form the Russian royal family.
After many visits from close protection and a whole manner of other security personnel including Colonel Edward Bolitho, Lord-Lieutenant and High Sheriff to Cornwall, it was decided that the Food Village was a suitable and safe place to receive a visit from the Princess.
She arrived by helicopter, causing great excitement across Bude, and was escorted to the farm by a security team.
All in all apart from the extreme stress, commotion and buzz of having a royal visit the day went off without a hitch. Princess Alexandra and the civil dignitaries that came with her were not only lovely and friendly, but seemed genuinely interested in everything we’re doing up here and almost as excited about the distillery as we are.
Presented with a hamper full of the finest we have to offer, the Princess promised to look us up in Fortnum and Masons.
